Split-Second Decision-Making

West Valley police shooting of Elijah James Smith

Tragedy. I don't like the way he had one hand raised and then looked like he might be pulling a gun. Cops wanted to make it home. Elijah Smith robbed a store and was hiding in a garage but the only stories being told about him are that he was a great person which may be true. Good life lesson not to rob stores, hide in a stranger's garage and to slowly raise both hands when caught. Learning will have to be done by others though.

Body camera footage from three West Valley City Police officers. Responding to a report of stolen cellphones, the officers found suspect Elijah James Smith in the garage of a house, where children — who said they did not know Smith — were home alone. After officers instruct Smith to put his hands up, one officer fires three shots, one of which kills Smith.

Guy was mentally handicapped, I don't think you can really be mad at him when he was handed such shitty cards. In this case, I imagine that someone manipulated him.

His handicap didn't prevent him from robbing a store or hiding from the cops but somehow it prevented him from  raising his hands ? Tought call on the officers but his actions did seem suspect . A court of law should be able to determine if the officers acted in a lawfull maner .
