Venuzuela IED on Police Motorcycle Motorcade

Unrest Continues in Venezuela..

Venezuelan police motorcycle convoy conducts a show of force as protestors and reporters stand in the streets. Suddenly, a bright, fiery explosion erupts from the median, sending dazzling sparks out from the ball of flame, in what appears to be a targeted IED attack. The device seems to be a crudely-made bomb consisting of gasoline and possibly some sort of recreational firework being used as a blasting cap.

After the smoke and flame dissipate, the damage doesn’t appear to be significant, indicating that the bomb maker may have not used any shrapnel ingredients during construction, and instead relied on the fire aspect of the explosion to inflict the damage. Instantly, the crowd of protestors begins to applaud and cheer as the police start firing tear gas in their direction.

Has there been any updates on this? I watched this back when it happened, probably 20 times. It looks like one of the motorcycles actually blows up or whatever exploded was attached to one of them. Really curios to know what exactly happened.

Can't find much.  one commenter says : Leonardo Rodriguez

"i was there, right after the attack the police officers not only shot tear gas, they shot the press with riot control shotguns, i got hit in my arm with a close range shot. they blame the press for knowing the bomb was there and not tip off the police, but we didnt knew shit."

and heres an article snippet:

"I stepped back when I heard the explosion as I thought it was a megabomb they were firing to the press," witness Carmen Andrea Rengifo said. "I am still not sure what sort of accident it was, if it was a motorcycle crashing and exploding or some sort of projectile. We saw at least one policeman heavily injured."

Ramsey S. Monh captured video of the scene. Monh said that after the explosion, police officers "grabbed three motorbikes from people who were standing there and put them on top of their motorcycles that were burning.

"Demonstrators tied the burned motorbikes with a rope, dragged them and placed them as barricades," Monh said.

No information was available on injuries and it's unknown what caused the explosion, or who was responsible.

So far, more than 120 people have died in political unrest in Venezuela since April, according to the nation's Attorney General's Office. At least six people died Sunday.

National Guardsmen clashed Sunday with opposition protesters and police fired tear gas at crowds in Caracas. At one spot in the capital, opposition demonstrators set up barricades on a highway.

The election would allow President Nicolás Maduro to replace Venezuela's current legislative body -- the National Assembly -- with a new institution called the Constituent Assembly that will have the power to rewrite the constitution.

Given my home country is close to Venezuela I kinda have some facts on the whole thing. Basically people are fed up of the dictatorship hiding behind a "socialist government for the people" bullshit and they are just going out into the streets. Shit is going to get really ugly before it gets any better. I hope Venezuela survives this. I doub it, I think Maduro will just bunker up and start killing anyone that speaks up. The world is a fucked up place and greedy people have become a cancer.

Yah and having idiots like Trump praise Dictators doesn't help either:  "Trump, Jan. 9: If you look at North Korea – this guy, he’s like a maniac, OK? And you have to give him credit. How many young guys — he was like 26 or 25 when his father died — take over these tough generals, and all of a sudden — you know, it’s pretty amazing when you think of it. How does he do that? Even though it is a culture and it’s a cultural thing, he goes in, he takes over, and he’s the boss. It’s incredible. He wiped out the uncle. He wiped out this one, that one. I mean, this guy doesn’t play games. And we can’t play games with him. Because he really does have missiles. And he really does have nukes."
