Except that it could have easily resulted in the deaths of dozens, if not hundreds of people. And he caused millions of dollars in property damange, not counting the public funds and resources wasted dealing with the whole thing.

you guys praising a suicidal person who stole a vehicle, caused millions of dollars of property damage, work delays, and cleanup costs, and put everyone in or under or every plane in his flight path in mortal danger are crazy. would you still be so happy if it was a depressed teenager with only video game experience stole your neighbor's sports car for 1 last joy ride, doing donuts around the neighborhood then crashed it into a tree in an empty field without killing anyone else? the majority of people will have a major depressive episode at least once in their life, so many of us can relate to having a level of truly suicidal feelings, but i think you guys are losing perspective by the novelty of the situation.
