It is absolutely brilliant what can be done these days.
Just bought a note 9, a gimbal and a mavic air drone. Fucking amazing! With this I can take very good footage of my work (the drone follows an object and has other automated processes) and my wife can take professional looking footage with the phone, not the usual shakey mobile shit. I also have a gopro I can strap to the dogs.

I wonder if it's just software or an actual distance measuring device next to the camera? If it's just software then I wonder how it compensates for movement farther or closer to the base model

The only way I see this really hitting it off is it can then be used to 3D print. Imagine manufacturing something, then scanning it 3D with phone, sending via IM to someone on the other side of the world, they plug it into a 3D printer and voila, custom made dildos transferred via satellite.
