6:47 since 1980 there has been at least 2 dozen (+/-100) school bus deaths out of millions of school children riding the bus. That is an amazingly good statistic I would think. Back in the day we were more worried how hungover the bus driver was than being hit by someone else.

There are no seatbelts on any local public transport buses I know of. On cross country routes there are.

The back of the seats on my school bus were metal with an iron bar at the top & an ash tray sticking out in the middle. A lot of us had to stand in the isle because of overcrowding. There were no seatbelts.

When it comes to this type of vehicle that drives at a very low speed and is quite visible, the risk of an accident seems small but if it does happen, having seatbelts would increase the odds of survival so why not have them?

If a parent REALLY wanted their kid to wear a seat belt to school then their asses would drive them there themselves. The fact that these parents would rather bitch and moan instead shows just how "concerned" they really are.
