Interesting, but I thought I was reading a while back that a bunch of this stuff was debunked...

I don't know. First time I hear about this guy and his claims seems legit. On the other hand this may explain the lack of recent posts from him...

this bullshit again. this guy is incredibly close to his targets. at that distance he's been hit by a spear or more likely another arrow or 10 long before he got that close to any enemy. people used shields for a reason. if he did ever manage to get that close and hit someone, he'd be quickly taken out by a few of the other enemy all around, or at least a much faster cavalryman.

so you can imagine, the minimum distance used in modern indoor archery is 18 meters, 3 meters longer than a basketball court, and people still do it with old-style longbows. does that look even close to the distances this guy is hitting at? "the quiver is used in modern archery because they stand still. that never happened in ancient times." bullshit. that was the only way it was done in ancient times. archers had to be flanked by infantry for protection because they couldn't protect themselves. there were chariot archers and cavalry archers who moved, because they were fast enough to flee.

He's not simulating battle, he's showing off agile archery skills. A lot of these skills would be quite relevant to an archer on a chariot or horseback or even at medium range when infantry are closing in. By the time someone throws a spear you could fire 5 arrows at him .... I'd say that's pretty significant.

no not at all, because the spear thrower is armoured and has a shield. this style was ineffective before the ancient romans even. in his reply he mentions the saracens, who, like every other force of archers, attacked en masse with storms of arrows from hundreds of archers because you can never get close enough to be sure of hitting your enemy, let alone with the luck you need to get around a shield in find a gap in armour. notice he left that bit out. a common tactic back in the day if you didn't have enough cavalry to chase away archers was to just wait until they ran out of arrows.

A simple google search of Mongolian archery or Japanese Archery (Yabusame) shows that this guy didn't discover any forgotten ancient technique. If anything this guy is more Hollywood than Hollywood.
I think he just wants to show that it is possible to shoot fast and in motion while trying to be like Hawkeye. It might not be effective in long range but it is possible. In the meantime.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yorHswhzrU

Yea the guy has skills and can shoot, but the rest of his movements and motorics are very clumsy look how he runs, jumps and throws lol. And those poses..seriously? And the video starts about archers and ancient techniques that have long been lost, and the first thing you see him do is shooting from under between his legs....

Agreed. It's funny when people can do something you cannot and then you spout off about technicality you googled. I hand forge throwing knives. I also throw them. Am I good? No. Am I more accurate than the asshole arm chair critiquing. Yes. I wish people would at least try to do the thing they are internet all knowing about and gain some perspective. Maybe then they will stufoo and let us enjoy videos of things we cannot do.
