Maybe, but i think it's also trying to show how fucking smooth and intelligent he was. He was handsome and charming and executed two dramatic escapes. Nevermidn the fact he fucked dead bodies until animals had chewwed on them to the point where he couldnt do it anymore .

Thats the point.. To those who didn't know any better, he really did come off as someone you would swoon/root for. He was a psycho and was as manipulative as he was charming.

The caveat is that by going too far you lose your physical freedom, and you steal freedom from others to get there.
