Not JoeGoes too.

Is YT being a pussy, or is it the advertisers?

i'm getting a really strong impression that it's both. i mean for one thing who cares what videos your product gets advertised on? they're just played randomly so there is no association. it'd be different of course if advertisers were sponsoring specific videos but that's not what happens. but then for youtube to not just point that out was patently stupid on their part. youtube has a pretty effectively monopoly on online broadcast content, so if the advertisers pull their ads all youtube needed to do was wait for them to come back.

The wall street journal smear campaign really took off. Didn't this all start from the pewdiepie Hitler videos? It's pretty ridiculous how far they have taken this. Ok, I get it you don't want to show your adds on racist / hate videos etc, but for fuck sake...both YT and the advertisers are just shooting themselves in the foot with this.

Some of the major advertisers on YouTube have media companies under their umbrella who have lost a lot of ad revenue to YouTube over the years. They've used their media companies like WSJ to kick up a fuss about hate speech etc on youTube in order to bully them & take back some of the lost ad $$. The negative press about YouTube hatespeech this year is not a coincidence & things like this normally come down to a bottom line somewhere.

this oversensitivity is probably some kind of trend, but i wonder if part of it is just a feasibility issue. youtube can't watch every single video and see which ones they really don't like, so maybe their filters are just too broad or flawed. but then again, do youtube viewers really care that an advertiser is showing on a video? i know i don't. it's not like adversiters can review every channel, unlike TV.

thought that too, but then they're not stupid, perhaps there's a long game benefit we don't see?

It's pretty obvious that youtube is using this as an excuse to keep more advertising money by paying the content creators less. YT stripes away all the money and makes the creators beg them to give back their money at a reduced rate and YT gets to claim it was only doing it becuase the advertisers wanted it and hiding behind the PC wave. Its always about the money! YT doesnt care about the fucking content, only money.

"this as an excuse to keep more advertising money by paying the content creators less."

But there isn't any money to keep if they can't advertise. If the content is deemed inappropriate it won't get monetized. Neither YouTube or the creator gets anything.

"YT stripes away all the money and makes the creators beg them to give back their money at a reduced rate "

Let me say it another way for ya, they temporarly suspend the money/advertising then the content creator will beg for their monitization back, YT will give it back but at a reduced rate. This is all a ploy by YT to show them who's their bitch.

Nah, I don't believe it. WSJ started this whole thing.

What makes more sense is the MSM doesn't like competition and started a smear campaign. Advertisers took the bait and YT has no choice but to comply if they still want to get some add revenue.

No good thing lasts forever.  YouTube is dying a slow death and it's only a matter of time before something better pops up and everyone gets the fuck away from the decaying remains.

Then Google will buy the new thing and the cycle of slowing killing it will begin again.

There's a food reviewer - reviewbrah - who gives ratings of things like the latest Sandwich from Burger King - he's been blanket restricted or demonetized by the new automatic algorithm.
