I think this is a good idea, however, I don't know anything about the wifi shit. Is this secure?

Soo, having a few ip cameras and fucking around for a couple of months I think I can give you some advice.
Here’s the deal. For the most part with an ip camera surveillance system setup it can be a little more diy. You’ll need to set up storage and the programs that handle it. This means getting a dedicated computer or raspberry pie with a drive or card. The more cameras you have and better resolution you use the more drive space these things will chew up.
Your storage will need to be in a spot that no one can’t find or in a strong box bolted to the wall or floor so I would recommend setting up remote access. If they can find it they can take or destroy it.
Can they be hacked? Yup, defiantly. The ones I use come with the ability to change passwords however in the scheme of things it means dick when someone comes along with a wifi jammer. On that note that shit is becoming cheap and easy to obtain. You can knock out all the wifi cameras if you’re in network range in a few minutes.
Under the right conditions though they can be a quick, cheap and dirty solution. On the plus side there are some really good solar ip cameras that you can literally place across the street from your house if you feel like it.
My best advice? Spend the extra coin on a “wired” system and place the box in a secure spot. You can find them on ebay. While they probably still could be hacked if they are on the network you’re not that important so it’s less of a worry. Jamming won’t affect them, they are easy to set up (although the wiring is going to suck) and modern ones are accessible through your phone anywhere you have coverage.

This was in my YT feed a couple of days ago. Put a few cameras on order.
Found a custom FW for this where it sends a picture through Telegram whenever it detects motion. Don't know if it's of any use but a nice tinkering project for cheap.
Should be more secure than alot of other chinese IP cameras. The ones I've used before could be accessed by an app that gives you live video feed to your phone, but god only knows where that is sent other than your phone.
With this, it's just accessing your local network so it should be a lot safer.
