At least in this one he seems to be a bit of a psycho himself.....

Isn't this the same trailer from back in August? Got me all excited for a second that there was a new one out.

Nope. It's exactly the same one. Better quality though. I remember reading a while back of Batman teaching Robin the importance of putting down thugs quickly, with a minimum number of moves. Pattinson-bat, not so much..

I was thinking about this. I believe in this scene the Paterson batman was trying to send a message to the other thugs by paintbrushing the unholy shit out of thug 1.
it's kinda obvious they didn't know who batman is and every fucking criminal in gotham should.
this was an introduction.

Agree/correct..but the duration of the beating in front of the entire gang leaves him open and vulnerable. Hopefully there's a line in the film that identifies thug1 as the leader of the group and he says something like 'stay back, this one is mine' or whatever.

idk, i still think batman was in control the entire time and could have adapted if anyone elce attacked. i believe if it was an early batman that he was solidifying the fear enducing stories of a dude dressed up as a bat just appearing out of nowhere and royally putting entire gangs into the local icu.
however, in Justice League Unlimited ep13 "the once and future thing part 2" old batman did says that he couldn't believe he was ever that green when the younger batman starts interrogating ghoul.
as an intereting side note the designers of batman arkham origins said in an interview that the younger version of batman featured has his fists up from the get go when engaging thugs. the older version being more seasoned in the games that are set in later time lines only puts them up just before he's being attacked or he's attacking.
you're right though, it's kinda all conjecture untill we see what happens in the film. he could well look up and find a face full of cricket bat after he's finished with the vengance thing.
