Omicron is really easily transmitted and odds are that we'll all get it if we don't have it already. So people going in to hospital now for broken legs or appendicitis or whatever have a good chance of being infected. The good news is that we're dealing with a highly vaccinated population and lower-morbidity variant that seems to be sticking to your upper respiratory tract that isn't killing people who are in moderate to fair health. The stats I saw repeated over and over for efficiency were attached to how long you were protected from infection and how much your percentage protection dropped over time, leading to the need for the second dose. The Second dose was actually sold across the board as the only thing you'd need to deal with the original strain. Efficiency ratings initially ranged from 69% at outset up to 95%, and these values were presented as percentage of protection from infection/transmission. It was actually news when the realization was made that the vaccine doesn't hit this marks AT ALL for the original strain. You don't remember that - you don't remember people in the comment section saying the infection/transmission post-vaccination was real and you responding by posting your laughing guy below and acting like we were claiming a conspiracy was underoot? I haven't seen anyone say they were trying to "hide" anything - when you conduct an experience en mass on the population why would you not exepct the unexpected?
Maybe you have a different news culture where you're from - a lot of people from other countries report a different experience from those who watch some North American news channel as their exclusive source of information about what's going on. Actually history shows us that in the short term our understanding of history is often extremely poor. It is only with time and especially as the consequences of actions become diluted overtime that we find out what actually has occurred.
