it's not really a troll, I like the music and some people who aren't easily triggered might like some of the visuals. More interesting than watching the same footage of PLA miltiary parade or guards on duty that western press spams whenever they mention China govt.

^ Not a CCP propagandist. Not a member of the 50 cent army. Just has a passing interest in the CCP and, in this particular case, he just liked the music (thought it was *cool*) so he posted it here and is confused as to why so many are triggered. Lives in New Zealand - an objective guy just calling it as he sees it.

I like the cinematography better in this one. What's missing is soldiers riding on horses, but I think the cool stealth bombers make up for that.

yeah that one's got much better production, it's all one clip produced by pros
the china one is a mix, some is from a recruitment vid which is professional like the US one, the rest is just some basic footage taken of some exercizes without much post production, smashed together by an indie creator.
Here's a recruitment ad for the Shanghai PLA that has about same production level (possibly bigger budget). I like it better than the US one (of course haha) but both are decent tbf.
Too many horses and too colorful. Can't really take it seriously

there's a lot going on that you wouldn't get, some is explained in the link I gave. I like that history stuff and marrying up modern times with old cultural references I think is pretty cool (Chinese are big on this). US one has better display of modern hardware & more videogamey appeal if that's your thing. I wouldn't really expect you to like the Shanghai one tbh, unless you like/know Chinese history it probably isn't very appealing. They both have really quite different vibe, message & target demo.
as for vibe I like the original one I posted of the 3 but the footage lags behind the energy of the music little bit.

Raucous colors and noises are everywhere in China unfortunately.I lived there for a few years, and while I found their culture fascinating and beautiful, I could never understand why they would 'disneyfy' it. Often in the most garish and tasteless ways imaginable.

ah ok. Just wanted to see if I could figure what bits you found too disneyfied.. can't say I can really relate but I was there as more of a tourist so different kind of experience. Found it a really mixed bag - in terms of luxury level & development incl modern culture (fashion etc), pretty diverse place. Will go to Sichuan one day & try the hotpot. It's on the top of the list for next time I'm there.

I hope that you have a cast iron stomach as those Sichuan hot pots are spicy as hell! I actually preferred Yunan cuisine, which is the province west of Sichuan. Not as spicy and they use a lot of different herbs, including tea leaves in their cooking. Very difficult to find those dishes outside of China sadly.
Food is an adventure in China and usually not in a good way. The safest bet is to stick with the higher end eateries. And never, and I mean never, eat from the street carts (gutter oil anyone?)!

I don't eat street food from anywhere really and don't have cast iron stomach, just gotta try Chongqing hotpot after hearing so much about it. Apparently it's a fizzy kind of spicy.
I found the food there great in general & ate at a few lower end places, always sit-down places but some are hard to describe as restaurants. Had a Chinese companion with me for most the time though so that probably helped. She can eat everything but most adventurous I've gotten so far is probly frogs & chicken feet, enjoyed both. I just stay away from offal, had a bad experience with it in Japan... was just after I brought up the emperor with the chef which I always found sus haha. His vibe completely switched & next day we felt terrible like food poisening kind of deal.

The Hotpots I had in china were mostly not that good, too full of spices, oils, and mystery meat. Never had the Chongqing one though.
Japan does far better hotpots, which they call Nabe Ryori, most of which DO NOT have offal in them. Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, but no Japanese chef would ever deliberately food poison someone. They have far too much pride for that. Japan is, afterall, one of only a few 'honour bound societies'. Which is part of the reason I have chosen to live here.

it's better when someone can interpret what's going on - it's steeped in historical/cultural stuff.
