ffs Dan, it would take more than what just happened, that's for sure. I mean, we don't even have capital punishment in Canada. Stringing up and desecrating a body is something that is abhorent to us. Don't get me wrong, we're not naive. In modern history Canada fought hard in 2 world wars, Korea, Afghanistan and in numerous peacekeeping roles over recent years. And war attrocities will certainly happen with any nation, in combat zones, in fact wherenver you have tired, exhausted, frustrated and desperate men who don't expect to see another sunrise acting out. There but for the grace of God, as they say. But looking at the photos above and from what you're describing, this is just a crowd giving in to mob rule and killing unarmed men. Nope. Right now we're all just keeping a watchful eye, waiting to see just how quickly JT et al declare the job done and the emergency legislation concluded. I don't know Mr. Pyke or care to. But remember that even Nostradamus didn't have the foresight to sit down before dying in that tavern. Poor guy died standing up and fell and squished his nose badly as I recall. You want to listen to prophecy, maybe listen to your birthplace's founding father, George Washington, who said the biggest threat to the republic was America being involved in too many outside conflicts (I say interests). Within, boy. Look to the enemy within! (and this includes the development of technologies that have us siloed in our own echo chambers, believing utter 'bunk' as you say). The truth is that huge deposits of natural gas have been found in the area so there are economic interests driving the whole thing. Sound familiar? The reason he revoked it was because of pushback from the people and because he would lose even more political capital if was struck down from the senate.
He does not look any better. He's still a traitor, a dictator, and I long for the day he tried legally, lawfully, and hanged.
I'm not thankful for him for "lifting" anything, and I refuse to see him as someone that gives or takes anything away. He is nothing.

I was talking about revolutionary fighting spirit - the willingness to throwdown with the govt when they're fucking up, even if it means making sacrifices. The military being ordered to go overseas to kill people in foreign lands is a totally different thing, in some ways it's the opposite.
Chinese have a fierce revolutionary fighting spirit if you look at their history. Their regime was toppled 4X last century & that's just the successful attempts. It's how they "elect" new leadership lol. Also explains why there's careful attention paid to maintaining social order there & it's not all done through repression as detractors make out.
If we find our govts being overly repressive it's likely not because they're afraid of being toppled, it's more likely they're overreaching unnecessarily & screwing us over. We don't have a people's democratic dictatorship, we have a liberal democracy. If we end up with overly repressive shit we're gonna have the worst of both worlds.
