I remember when McDees moved in to Russia. It was a giant sign that Russia was open. News videos showing people eating a $40 burger. There was very little beef at the time so this was a huge deal for them. I also, recall when Russia hockey players would come play in Canada/USA and the Russian wives would go out grocery shopping with the local hockey players wives. The Russian wives saw the meat section and started grabbing all the meat because they thought it would all be gone tomorrow.
Is it good or bad that these companies are breaking ties? It is permanent or temporary? I can't see isolating any country to be good for the long term.

the way the ruble is inflating and russia freezing its stock market in an attempt to to hold off the crash, russians won't be able to afford mcdonalds. the sanctions and business' cutting ties will go on for a while even if russia were to completly withdraw. russia's fucked for a while
here's a meme to explain it

It's likely Russia didn't foresee Europe seizing of their funds & cutting off of their central bank. We're likely to see a retaliation. We're in economic wartime now & Russia can upset the global economy a fair bit, beyond what the natural outcome of these sanctions are going to do.
I'm not gonna try & predict what's gonna happen to the ruble in the near future ... fuck it I'll do it, 50-75% lost value & then slow rebuild as revenues come in from the commodities they sell, now that they're gonna be far more expensive. Meanwhile our food & energy prices could skyrocket in the next 6 months & the Euros are already warning of problems around social cohesion when their economies go tits up.
