this vid has 5 second snippets of interviews with locals & the military that US is supporting, showing a story they want you to see - produced by a US govt propaganda outlet
you've just got done disparaging raw & uncut interviews of locals in Mariupol that I uploaded a couple days back, acting like it's some kind of staged bullshit but you had no evidence whatsoever & like many others your reasons for doubting what was shown were vague at best - it was produced by an indie journo with a profile that's online to see
and you're talking about "optics"
get real my guy, at least try & be a little bit consistent in your skepticism, confirmation bias doesn't do you any favours if your intention is to get a clear picture of things. The "optics" the public see are whatever, Russia never stood a chance in the West's information warfare domain, they haven't even tried to compete & have had their outlets banned in the West regardless. On top of this the West has launched the biggest war PR campaign I've ever seen. If you wanna actually assess Russia's military performance you're gonna needa dig a bit deeper than Radio Free Europe, I'm pretty sure the Pentagon isn't watching this for clues.

Wow dude, take a fucking chill pill and pay attention, I dont care what these people say!!! Pics and vids dont lie and from what I am seeing it does not look good for Russia. Jesus christ. How many more times do I have to say this? I put almost %100 credibility in pics and vids, fuck, most of the time I am listening to music in the background when im watching these vids, I dont care what they say, I care about what their cameras catch.
Im not saying Russia is winning or getting their asses kicked but they are losing quite a few vehicles and for a "super-power" to be losing that much, is not good optics!!!
Im getting worried about that, in that Russia might feel they need to drop some big bombs to end this faster. Im not sure how that would end up, if the rest of the world would be little bitches and let them get away with it. Imagine if the USA dropped a nuke on Baghdad because we were losing? That would not sit so well with people. The aggressors need to have more restraint than that.

"Russia might feel they need to drop some big bombs to end this faster"
yeah there's a balance between the firepower they use & colateral damage
they're well-within proportional use of firepower, way under it I'd say considering the figures coming out, sounds like roughly 4-5k losses on their side incl DPR forces, 30ish thousand on Ukr military side & 6-7k civilians.
In urban warfare a 1:1 ratio of military to civilan casualties is considered proportional & theirs is roughly 4:1 so it shows how careful they're being.
they're not using their usual doctrine of "hammer & anvil" which is where you bombard with heavy artillery & move troops in while continuing to bombard. Most of the Ukr forces have embedded themselves in civilian areas, without evacuating the civlians (a war crime) and even prevented civies from leaving & using them literally as human shields by engaging from behind them, especially in Mariupol.
that said, I do agree there's a danger of their military reputation being undermined but don't think it has been for people who count. The first couple weeks was a bit loose & since then it's been some hard going, they could be there for many months at this rate, grinding out city by city, village by village.
So far they've managed to weaken the Ukr military in a number of ways & now have to grind them out of Donbass. Not sure what else they'll do but there's a good 60k Ukr forces left in Donbass & they're really well dug in.
Also you typically want to have 3 attackers for every defender.
They went in with under 200k troops going up against a force with 260k active members. All NATO trained with NATO gear, NATO advisors & intel & also battle experience from being rotated for 5+ years at the Donbass front.
the idea that Russia's losing to grandmas or volunteers with AKs is silly. Ukraine has a pretty strong army. It's the mistakes Russia makes that are probably what could undermine their reputation, not these small tactical losses like the video you've shown. That's my 2c as someone who doesn't consider himself a military analyst.
