Thor: Ragnarok is Fucking Awesome

Thor: Ragnarok - "Hela vs Thor“ Fight Scene (2017) NEW Footage

Full disclosure:  I'm a Marvel fanboy because they make good movies.  I recently watched both Justice League and Thor: Ragnarok and it was shocking to me the abject differences in these movies that are essentially cut from the same cloth.  Justice League is filled with mostly dour, angsty characters who sometimes quip something funny and have an oddball guy (Flash) who plays a fish out of water, but overall it is uninspired and a chore to watch; not even taking the trailers into account, it was just very predictable as the characters seemed to be slaves to the plot devices and narrative.  One of the primary problems with the film is that the *only* bad guy was the most generic BLAH character I've ever seen and few of the characters were interesting to watch nor had any arcs (save for arguably Cyborg, who seemed to become more smiley and laughy near the end of the film despite acting like an angry teen throughout most of the movie).

Thor: Raganrok, on the other hand, was immensely entertaining and I was surprised and entertained with how it paced through its own fairly predictable plot.  The movie begins in a Hellscape and transitions to Earth then goes to a dictatorship planet that is overflowing with trash, to Asgard and every environment is dazzling and has its own unique flavor.  The main difference between Thor and JL is that the enterainment sprang forth in Thor from how the characters interacted with one another: would Hulk befriend Thor, how does Bruce Banner react to Loki, and how does Valkyrie interact with the Prince Thor?  Despite being essentially a straight comedy the characters remained true to themselves and acted appropriately while still being very funny.  Cate Blanchett hams it up as Hela, the Goddess of Death, and she is appropriately introduced as a serious threat and she has an interesting backstory and motivations.

TL;DR: Go watch Thor: Ragnarok and if you want to see a deep throat blow job you can read my post above as I swallow Marvel's dick.

I like the part in Thor where Thor and the Hulk talk and stuff. I like the way they characterized "temporarily tame Hulk". Great post.

Hulk being in Hulk form for 2 years apparently gives him the intelligence of about a 2 yr old. That was their theory anyway. I think the director & Thor actor both have kids about that age so they made it work pretty well.

They didn't go into it very much but I kind of just assumed that since he was in Hulk mode for so long that he learned the fundamentals of English.

Yeah me too when I watched it but it's a little more than that, it's like he was a newborn when he transformed before that which is a bit of a twist. I got obsessed with this movie for a few days & watched every Youtube clip about it & the Tika Waititi's movies I hadn't seen. If you wanna see what it's like in rural New Zealand, checkout his movie "Boy". It has a lot of flavour added but it does remind me of the culture on the East Coast of North Island. Lots of sun, lots of weed, lots of Maoris haha.

Yeah I really enjoyed it too. The director's last 3 movies are all worth a watch.

Kate Blanchett rocked the shit outa that catsuit.

And who knew Mark Ruffalo is actually funny?

Oh, and yeah. There's just no comparison between the good Marvel movies and those marketing campaigns pretending to be movies coming out of DC. And I have no horse in the race, maybe a little more fond of Xmen & Hulk than Batman but it's all the same shit. Michael Keaton was the last decent batman IMO. I like Christian Bale in most things but his Batman movies were snore fests. We walked out of the 2nd Dark Knight film it was so lame. I've barely bothered even pirating them since... when I do I just skip through to get the gist. And I can even enjoy Transformers movie so it's not like I'm not open to straight up schlock.

Was it just me, or did anyone else feel like Justice League was basically a repeat of the first Avengers? The main macguffins are mystical boxes that contain pure power only a few can control, while some alien race invades, and some dude with a giant horned helmet acts like a cocky douche until Superman/The Hulk finally shows up and beats his ass senseless.

I think you chalk up the level of such with regard to Justice League to a couple of things.  This guy explains them perfectly.
