I don't know. It kinda feels like it'll be 3 games in 1. Completely different backstory. This is from the company that brought Witcher 3 to us (#1 PC Game in Metacritic by User Score since 2015). They know how much is riding on this. I don't think something as standard as character selection could be it's downfall.
My biggest concern is how arcade and colourful the combat seems to be. If anything, I would've preferred something darker and bleaker like Deus Ex was back when the original game launched. But that's more of a preference than objective analysis. Also, challenge vs. balance. The one fault Witcher 3 had IMO was that after a while it became very easy and combat became repetitive, even on the hardest levels.
I know that no game can be perfect, but it's been a while since we've had a good single player game on PC, and I really hope this one delivers to the expectations ^^

The setting is cyberpunk. It's kind of hard to avoid the arcade look and feel.
But I see your point. Hopefully there will be mods to change that.

Well, I mean, Deus Ex (2000) is cyberpunk AND gritty, and on top of delivering a great RPG experience (for a 2000's game) it has AMAZING writing. Like, Disco Elysium level of writing. Know what am saying?
