Dont worry shampoo is still in stock :) just kidding, but where there are shortages there are entrepreneurs, this is an opportunity, the food price going up is because of the bad harvest, because of the weather, this is not long term and could be solved next year when prices drop again because of over production.

I don't know how it's going in Europe, but over here fertilizer plants aren't producing, and farmers stocking supplies for next crop are SOL.
Hope things are better over there.

From what I gather is Europe maintained some level of decentralization in their agriculture.
In NA it's all corperate lobbies. Over the years lobbyist have worked overtime to destroy us completely, and I think people are going to see the culmination of that very soon.

Yeah it is all run by individual farmers, they have their own farms and fields, it is basicaly like the amish :) but with technology. They chose their own crops those that have good deals going usualy stick to it, dedicated greenhouse tomato farms that make their living off a few hunderd square yards, they cultivate their own honey in the proces, and they live more then comfortably. everywhere you drive are houses surrounded by fields.
And we don't cultivate that much corn, in America they get (sugar) from corn, we get real sugar from sugar beets, makes our Coke taste that little better and it is (healthyer) less harmfull
