he's right, and now i have had a look there's nothing really stopping a country from developing lethal autonomous weapons.
you thought mine fields were bad. it's no big thing to set a belt fed weapon on a gimbal with a camera hooked up to a Arduino or raspberry pi. something gets close enough, it lets fly. just enough smarts to do the job and super cheap to build. i've seen it done with a pellet gun, these things are brutaly efficent and never sleep. just the thing to leave behind for an advancing army. it only gets worse from there.

What I'm saying is that the people who will have access to the power represented by "autonomous weapons" aren't folks you'd want to have that kind of power - they're going to be the worst possible people that you can imagine.
How is that not obvious at this point, to either you Nakey or you Backdraft? I suspect folks like you two will adapt, rationalize something inside your minds to make it "okay - no it's okay as long as I stay safe" and you'll say what you need to say and do what you need to do to stay alive or even prosperous as long as you can while the soul you don't believe you have writhes and thrashes around in agony. I'd rather die than experience that fate, so yes I'm trying to avoid a future where me and those like me are systematically eliminated.
