isn't it great. so they were traveling from point a to point b, hit something and crash landed.
you'd think they area they were traveling through was charted even a little.

thinking about your comment made me realize part of the plot
so if you were in another solar system 100 million years ago or so and you plotted a path that took you through our solar system, your charts are pictures of the past, they wouldn't show earth with a moon. it could take a thousand years for light from earth to reach wherever you are so when you leave, you might be suprised to find a moon and some asteroids orbiting around the earth when you get there

you'd think if someone could create a sexy ship like that capable of ftl travel to who knows where the hyper advanced navigation systems could figure it out.

no matter how fast a ship goes, were all limited on how fast we can receive information. so advanced navigation systems can't account for things that don't exist. were only detectable to anything within 4.6 billion light years of us. anything further away, we don't exist in their night sky because to them, we haven't happened yet. if they decide to traverse throught our space, they wouldnt know our solar system is here. to anything 60-100 million light years away, we don't have a moon yet. anybody within a couple thousand light years, they don''t know about out sattelites and space junk floating around our planet. i'm thinking the faster you go and the further you go, the more likely you die cause you're skipping out on thousands/millions/billions of years information about your destination and path. anyways... its just a movie. i'm sure neils going to lose his shit over it

Not reading all that, but.... im guessing writers anomaly as you can't travel fast enough to go backwards... or did they go so fast they got caught in the cyclical universe blew trough the big bang.
Shitty and just boring writing would be.... humans returning to Earth and experience the big form of life again..... not using the word!
I can humm it to you.... na na naa, na naa, na....nana naaaaaaaa huge opening sceene with waterfalls and a chopper landing.....amazing vistas!
