that exchange is from last month. that same 1,240,000 rubles is now worth 13,180 USD, that 1,591 USD difference is 149k rubles or an eighth of their salary's purchasing power

 

the annual salary of an american is 55k USD or 5,193,190 rubles or at least 400% the salary of a russian

 

the cost of living goes hand in hand with the standards of living, 25% of russians(34 million) don't have indoor plumbing. the basics required to pass our building standards are considered luxuries to them
