Another misconception of the yanks, the word yankee comes from the Yankees baseball team, they where first called the indians but they where all Dutch so ppl called them out on the two most primary dutch names Jan and Kees so they would call them jan kees jan kees, then they decided to change their name, to yankees they won time after time and they where called all american even to the point that they would use the word to depict a national, i see if i can find the documentary.
