Within the first 2 days of Russia's special sauce operation my Twitter following jumped by 15% which is absolutely fucking wierd because I'm not a very active user, nor had I posted more than about 2 mundane replies over the previous week.
I screen followers so looked up half a dozen of them & found they seemed probably human with a mix of slightly edgy political interests & accounts 1-3 years old, no red flags to make me wanna soft-block them... although it's highly likely they are bots & I'll probably kick them away when I can be bothered.
This happened to loads of people I follow too & one person spent days auditing thousands of new followers & blocking the ones he didn't think were human.
RIP assumptions that randos on social media are human, even troll farms were real human beans back in my day ;(
