Yeah, I don't get it how this is still a thing. Musk is not an Idiot. I mean. Paypal, Tesla, Space X. .... this though? Did musk invent some kind of massive digger/grafen 3d printer? Is the man so obsessed with space he willing to risk his reputation on this that can only be a scam?
This is all very strange to me considering the person. Granted he's a bit loopy, but a scammer?

watched this the other day and i still don't get what's technically wrong with the idea? the only arguments put forward - we already have other means of transport, it will be dangerous, the performance of the prototype was limited, etc - are exactly the same arguments that were used against the car. besides that he just spends the entire video being incredulous. why?

The main argument is not really the availability of other transport (although it is an extremely valid point) and the horrendously underestimated price tag but technical issues like: creating the vacuum needed, the system's (near) vacuum tubes requiring vacuum seal expansion joints every few hundred metres, vacuum sealed emergency exits, enormous airlocks for getting the trains in and out the vacuum tubes (or requirement to create vacuum proof airlocks to allow passengers on and off the trains) and the total collapse of the system including death of all passengers in the tube in case of an accident (or attack) breaking the vacuum (literally requiring the system to be bullte and bomb proof) etc etc etc. Has been discussed various times in various publications by thunderf00t and others but the fanboys tend to forget.
