The area around Manbij is a pivotal region in Syria & its fate is being negotiated as the US looks to withdraw.
Turkish forces & Turkish-backed FSA are ammassing an invasion force of 3 columns along the Northern border.
Syrian forces are ammassing to the South and have setup a presence in a town to the West of Manbij city.
US patrols, incl helicopters are still protecting the area & setting of flares during the night to cockblock Turkish-led operations.
The Kurdish forces (SDF or YPG/PKK depending who you ask) are looking to Damascus to protect them from a potential Turkish invasion as the US withdraws.
The situation is fluid but Sergey Lavrov should sort it out without it getting out of control.
