I've been asking the same question. They are a commonwealth country and are acting against English common law - we'd need some clear indication that the majority of the Australian public want it, and I doubt we'd see that. My own country is teetering - current leadership has long past breached the line into betraying their oaths. I think the current strategy of "Let them undo themselves" could still be viable.
