How about let's take this thing we've created, which has brought us so far and raised most of the world up with it, and take it to the next stage. It's been stuck spinning its wheels for a while now, we all know it, and there are folks who've taken it for granted so much that they actually believe one of those options you posted above might be better. That said, I'm personally attracted to the mountain man with pet bear lifestyle.

What's the absolute worst part about the life that any of us live at the moment?

I think this is the biggest problem - note that no particular solution is offered here. But understanding the problem is at least the first step if we're going to have something better:

So the worst thing that we have to face, like actually face, in our lives right now is negative feelings and lack of a clear goal in life due to nihilism?  That doesn't seem really all that bad; and I don't mean that to be demeaning of your point because I can definitely see a scenario where a nihilistic view can completely ruin someone's happiness, but that person suffering under nihilism is able to use a toilet, able to eat whenever they want, has access to multiple different employment opportunities, is allowed to pursue any religion they wish, is able to learn for free through videos like the one you just linked (assuming they have access to the Internet), and for the most part lives a fairly fine life.

I think the concern is that we've never been here before, really, and this problem has been ongoing for over a century now. I think the concern is that the thing that established this Western society and which has propped it up has been eroding for a long time which suggests there's a great danger of some kind of catastrophic collapse. And we don't want that of course. And where I come in with my crazy thoughts is that what if this stage we're in is a critical stage that all intelligent species find themselves in? What if we've been at this stage in the past and that's been lost to history? What if we're being evaluated right now as we try to navigate this stage and what if our decisions could be the difference between whether we continue to rise up or whether we fall down to the dirt again or even disappear altogether.

Also I think sometimes people look at this clip and they think that Peterson is attacking nihilism. To me it seems more like he's sympathizing with nihilism, really trying to map out its cause. The crisis occurs on the other side as well. I was raised where people tried to shove a very simplistic and nonsensical representation of Christianity down my throat. Instead of this causing me to become nihilistic I felt motivated to scrape away the BS to see if it was growing on top of something real. And apparently I came to the same conclusions that Jordan Peterson did. Yes it's real. It's just not what so many people wish it was or think it is.

Tribal life can be fulfilling (so I've heard). Being part of a group that relies on you and you rely on them can give you a great sense of meaning and comradery, which is in today society missing for a lot of folk.
