Hades, actually. Back then there was no distinction. Everybody, good or bad was said to have gone to the same place. As part of the new covenant, Jesus descended into Hades and brought everyone up; hitting the reset button if you will. That's Adam and Eve you see him pulling out of the tomb in many Christian Orthodox iconographs. Needless to say, Satan was not happy (pretty cool imagery in the original film, Passion of the Christ, of him realizing he'd been tricked and screaming towards the heavens, while he is left alone in Hell). I think I might want to see this one also.

I was also going to comment upon this post about how the ancient Israeli tribes didn't believe in the Greek invader's version of the afterlife (Hades) until much later, closer to about 500 years before Jesus was around. Before then, they believed in Sheol, or "the grave", where all dead people resided apart from God.
