Viruses and bacteria will still travel with the water though. Most water filter cannot filter out viruses, seems to be overlooked quite a bit. I'd rather drink water with a little dirt in it that was treated with something to kill shit than clean looking water full of shit that would make me sick.

You just boil it. Or use a proper filter, they're pretty cheap.

The cheap "proper" filters IS just what I am talking about, most are just carbon filters, they just filter out sediment and make the water look clean but they dont filter out the viruses, bacteria and micro organisms that can make you sick. Boiling does work BUT for most viruses you have to boil for 10 min to break them down. Not always feasable when hiking or lite camping.
