His failure to apologize directly to the kids whose reputations he helped destroy is demonstrative of this. 1791 guy is missing the point. DeFranco is centrist & reasonable. He's walked back his statements but the 1971 guy is still wanting more. I think he's barking up the wrong tree & not really understanding the issue.
The Trump platform dips into xenophobia. It was obvious during his campaign. There's a reason politicians don't usually go there.

If any of those kids told the Israelites to go back to Africa, there'd be nothing the other side could do to not make themselves the victims. This is a double standard, and it's one people are happy to facilitate because they all got caught letting their mask slip. They got exposed for being fools that, at best, let their emotions guide them, and at worst, let racist tendencies guide them. Either way, they're not as put together and rational as they want others to believe when they're brow beating them about being a Trump voter. They're every bit as awful as they project onto other people, and we all got to see it.
