Hold up. Awesome video for one, no doubt. but the colony on the boiled Petri dish that grew was on the far edge. It is much more likely that the process of creating that dish allowed something to get into it, hence why it started on the edge.  Most cultures are set in the middle or swabbed on the agar a certain way. Most contaminants will get in from the side if not sealed properly or once moved from a laminar flow hood for storage.

nice catch. another guess is improper handling, maybe something fell from the hand that placed the cover over the dish.
