I had a walkman, a cdman and tehn my judgement went a little downhill with a minidisc portable and then a sony mp3 (was not mp3 format, though) player. The last two led me to avoid any sony product, and also apple, due to their control issues.
It's also interesting that the CD is the peak in audio recording quality, any "better" format like SACD and DVD-A failed
Also noteworthy is that the initial price of a CD matched that of a LP record due to manufacturing costs but with time the manufacturing costs became negligible, however savings were not passed on to the consumer but kept as profit for greedy production companies. Hence I now rarely by music.
And lastly, kudos, young lady for the last statement!
