Living costs have gone up, that is just the way it is when it is war.

Don't forget the grain shed of Europe was attacked, and power has been cut, you think we are gonna buy from Russia? it will take some reforms.

Meanwile Russia is burning trough its money reserves of the rich, those ho do not pay get thrown out the window of a hospital.

That was just a message to the other oligarchs pay or die. hence the good numbers in their economy till the money is gone, and it collapses, tragic for everyone in the country.

And all that for the land of Ukraine? To just own it?

It is normal that the Czechs are angry, but this minority is blaming the wrong ppl.

Ingoring the 2014 coup that installed a pro-US government & the 8 years of conflict since, the war in Ukraine started on Feb 16. Russia responded 8 days later by preempting the Ukrainian ground assault on Donbas.

On Feb 15, the OSCE recorded 41 ceasefire violations as Kiev’s forces began shelling Donbas.

Feb 16: 76 violations

Feb 17: 316

Feb 18: 654

Feb 19: 1,413

Feb 20-21: 2,026

Feb 22: 1,484 …virtually all by the Kiev side.

Feb 24: Russian forces intervene

while that was going on, on Feb 19 the EU Prez says:

and a day after Russia took action she was all like:

All i hear from you is lies and not even half truths, you buy in and spread any propaganda that is Russian Chinese and anti American.

And what is that Von der Leyen thing about? she is telling the truth, you think it is different?

PPL must have believed in the (coup), otherwise they would not be so happy and so motivated, they declared themselves free, they where happily a part of Europe free trade and such everyone was happy, now the war? they fight for their country and their freedom, to be happy again one day.

Are there that many happy ppl in Russia?

If you make 10 kids you get 15000 dollar by the time they are at 10 the money will be worth nothing, that is how much they care.

This is the Hitler Jugend all over

Yes we all chip in, i shower less long, 10 minutes instead of half hour, we all chip in it is a unity thing, i don't expect you to understand, and it is better for nature just an extention of the Kyoto Protocol, we had to do it one day, now seems fitting, better yet this is the best thing that could have happened to us.

Germany fired up coal power plants to suppliment their power shortage, dunno if Kyoto Protocols is the right analogy. Switzerland has jail terms for people who heat thier homes more than 19deg or water more than 60deg. "unity"  lol. It's authoritarian austerity. Only the truly brainwashed Eurocucks will get behind your leaders as they plummet you into this mess for the sake of US imperial objectives.

I'd say it's a good thing in the long run. It forces Europe to find alternatives whether it be exiting renewables or new tech. Change doesn't come cheap, that's why they are put off for so long.  When you have no choice, people start to work the problem.

you better hope change comes cheap because the first thing you're spending a big money on is subsidizing energy & bailing out energy companies. You only have so much debt to play with & this economic war is costing tens of billions for no gain at all. It can potentially wipe out some of your industry or even spread into the banking sector. Europe has been doing well in recent decades buying cheap Russian gas & is already ahead of most of the world in de-fossil-fuelling their energy. In any case, there's a potential energy crisis coming that could last 5 years and the Americans are making bank selling you LNG. It's a major transfer of wealth from Europe to the US & you're saying it's a good thing. Okay, we'll see.

It won't come cheap, but forcing Europe to be energy independent is a good thing. As I said, it's likely to spawn new alternatives for energy when faced with a real energy crisis. New energy production isn't going to be built in a few years so the transition will be rought but it's worth it because most likely the alternatives will be renewables so less pollution, which has been the plan all along and also Russia will lose that leverage in possible future conflicts.

so far I haven't seen any talk of transition. The Germans have put in some clause where they don't have to decommission the last couple of nuclear power plants & the EU has cut a deal with Azerbaijan to double gas imports (still not enough). Only problem is that it comes thru Turkey & Russia's influence is increasing there, as it is in Baku which is a node in the new North-South economic corridor being setup from Russia to India, so it's only gonna increase their political & economic coupling. A smart thing to do would be use what you have left of your shrinking geopolitical relevance to force the Americans to rejoin the JCPOA & bring Iranian gas onto the market. It's these next 5 years or so you have to worry about, then you'll likely have replacement for Russian piped gas with more LNG terminals or whatever. The green transition can't happen in a few years & your governments aren't going to let industry die hoping it'll spark some kind of green tech magic. If your industrial base dies you have much bigger problems than how green your (collapsing) economies are. You'll realize how paranoia about Russia having geopolitical leverage over you in the form of cheap piped natgas supply was folly.

I hear you, but fossil fuels are not the future, pure electric is, if not that.? turning water into hydrogen with a few watts electric will be.

No more gas we will adapt, it costs money but will be an example for the rest of the world even Russia could learn from it for electrifying in the future.

It has been years now that new built houses can't use fossil fuels,.. pure electric, i don't know how long that is but it has been a while,

more ppl who have older houses have opted for electric, because of the rising prices since the war in Irak

and ppl can put the old wood or coal stove in, there are no government rules against that,

most houses in belgium have chimneys anyway, not that that is the way to go but it helps,

most houses have a wood stock the size of a full small garage they could last 3 years or more,

especialy with global warming, if it is 10 degrees celcius you don't need much heating,

and our wood in belgium is mostly from replanted forrests in the ardennes they cut and they plant on designated areas, as it should be.

they do plant it in straight lines it looks like shit, but nature is oke

you should not worry so much, it will all be fine probably.

"so far I haven't seen any talk of transition."

Really? Try Googling if anyting comes up.

"You'll realize how paranoia about Russia having geopolitical leverage over you in the form of cheap piped natgas supply was folly."

They are literally funding Russias war by buying gas and oil from them, so it's not paranoia. Thats really the biggest incentive to move away from it. Going green is just a bonus.

We'll see how it goes. Actually hope Russia cuts the gas to a minimum so theres no choice but to transition as quiclky as possible, but I doubt they will because they need the money.
