i get where he's coming from but a boycott isn't going to happen because most people firstly don't try to repair their phones either because they never break them or when they do they just get a new one, and secondly of the people who find they can't get their phone repaired cheaply their response is to just pay the higher price rather than take a stand.

If repair shops like this can exist it is because there is a market for reasonably priced repair services.
I have done two repairs to my iphone 5S myself so far and it cost me very little. The new vibration motor was $1 and the new battery was $30. This is a perfectly acceptable investment that will allow me to run this phone for a few more years. Had I had these repairs done by Apple it would have cost me the better part of the price of a new phone.
It is in the financial interest of Apple to keep these repair costs as high as possible as they want their consumers to buy their new products. I have good patience, skills and confidence in myself in fixing things like that. But someone who doesn't should still have access to reasonably priced third party solutions. Or if a repair requires expensive specialized tools that I don't have I'd like to be able to have access to one as well.

yeah i agree, my point is only that there aren't enough people such as yourself to make an effective boycott.
