Aurora Borealis Timelapse 2024 Victoria BC

Several photos of the May 10, 2024 Aurora Borealis / Northern Lights compiled into a timelapse. The photos are from the beach at Cordova Bay, Saanich (Victoria), Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Around 10:00 PM - Midnite. We thought about going to Pkols (Mount Douglas) to see the Aurora, but we thought it would be packed with people. Several dozen people were at Cordova Bay Beach to see and photo the Aurora, but it didn't feel crowded. You can see silhouettes of some people on the beach, and some flashlights. Coronal mass ejections were detected days before the Aurora, which was nice as it gave viewers lots of warning. I expect that literally billions of photos of this Aurora were taken around the world. I'm curious if the Southern Lights (Aurora Australis) were as bright and colourful. I'm a bit colourblind, so I didn't see as much colour watching the Aurora live as I did seeing the downloaded images on the computer. Regardless, it was spectacular to see live. I commented while watching, "The word "wow" just isn't quite good enough." We were very glad it wasn't a cloudy night. The sliver crescent moon looked very cool, and we were glad it wasn't a full moon washing out the sky. Photos by Stephanie Ann Johanson using a Canon EOS 70D. Photos location: San Juan Island (US) is visible across the water, as are the Canadian islands Darcy Island, James Island, and Sidney Spit Island.

It's a weekly/monthly thing, but purple is a new one.... so yeah wtf!. As you probably know that particular colour doesn't exist it's an error in our brain.

When the sun starts sending error messages I get a little worried... hehe
