They were certainly well known for identity politics, Eugenics, false flags, weaponizing the justice system against their political opponents and usurping the government through perfectly legal means.

Nazism is far bigger than Hitler. He was just the bag man.

Did they teach to stop being ashamed of Germany and embrace white well being instead of guilting yourself for things you were never a part of?

I have German friends, still have their accents and speak fluently both German and English. They told me what the school system and government did to them growing up.
Made them ashamed to be German, Made them ashamed to be born white, taught them that their atonement was in giving away their home to everyone else and letting their culture die.
Disgusting.

My father in law (who fought at Stalingrad and had to walk back to the Rhur valley) told me that when he was in the vanguard of the invasion of Russia he was welcomed by the civilians as liberators!

I'm sure they were. Citizens were under nonstop surveillance and lock downs under the SS. Police felt powerless to protect the civilians from them. A few members of parliament knew what was going on and had no idea how to challenge it.
After the war, the brits and Americans rehabilitated former nazis with kindness and compassion, and hanged whatever officers that had the power to stop it that they could find.
Then when Germany was split in two the governments from both sides took the history lessons to extremes. It's important to know what happened, spend a week or a month even and go through it all. It's another things entirely to pump it into kids heads non stop. Tell them that their nationalism was dirty, yet leave out the most important components, which is too much faith in the system and consensus, and not enough into the difference between right and wrong.
Despite a dark period, Germany has a beautiful history, and fascinating politicians that helped shape their republic. Delicious food, and of course good beer. They had a strong sense of family and community, much like other European cultures and any strong nation.
I hope they can be proud of that again, and don't let the wrongs of "some" of their grandfathers to make them hate themselves.
If you put too much value into Hitler and his friends alone, You can easily miss other things going on.
