Why didn't they just make an attachment you can put on the car to catch the vented gas in your garage? Then maybe you can recycle it to get your fuel back.
Also, what happens to the tank in a horrible crash? Would impact's lower the integrity causing uncontrollable leakage?

Only way I see this as worthwhile is if you can somehow make a homemade solar/wind powered desalination hydrogen generator...................which has its own problems..
