I almost went thought the same shit yesterday! I was driving home from hiking up a mountain when I stopped to check out a cliffside along the thruway. Had some time to kill. Google showed a trail up on the cliff side, not wanting to hike up another mtn I drove to the top. Maps showed a road near the trail on top but when I got there was nothing but an overgrown farm feild. Spent an hour or so walking around the cliffs with my dog and found two sheriffs vehicles parked next to my car. I explained what I was doing, showed them the maps. They said "they were more concerned than the property owner who called in". Just as I thought the conversation was over and they seemed fine with what I was doing one of them pulled out his notepad and asked for my name and DOB. I asked "did I commit a crime?", he said technically yes because there was a posted sign, I asked where? and he pointed to a sign buried in weeds two feet off the ground and he even admitted he had a hard time finding itand said they were goign to notify the owner to place it in a better position. I said I can go on unimproved land that is not posted and I did not commit a crime becuase the sign was hidden, adding that had I seen the sign I wouldnt have gone on the property, to which he said he would arrest me for "obstruction of justice". Gave him the info and filed a complaint. Fucking tyrants.

  1. Every time a police officer is swearing at a suspect I would give them a day suspension w/o pay.
  2. The proper way to address someone is by their last name and correct pronoun or simply by Sir or Madam
  3. Every time a video and /or sound recording is switched off during a vital part of a call out the police officer(s) should get a minimum of a week suspension w/o pay. Did not happen here, I know. There are many more little things that can be addressed this way.
  4. I am gobsmacked at the bad training US officers, and especially their dogs, receive, it is appauling

These measures alone should focus the mind.

I watched up to 8 minutes but did not hear racial slurs, were they beeped out? Up to the arrest I found the officer to be rather patient. After the arrest there is no point in arguing further with the detainee.

Lastly:
