at that age you probably start to realize that a one party system is bullshit

So sad. So what's the old guy's estimated body count (vs. Xi's, I mean)?

actually very low. he was the one who brought china into the modern world, liberalizing, letting people who were good at what they did advance rather than choosing lifelong bureaucrats who've never done anything besides fill out forms to lead companies. xi took that success and rode it for a little while before starting to turn it all backward. funny thing is none of the stuff he's doing the country would be able to afford if not for the policies of his predecessor.

I don't really root for any poltiicians.
What's happened is that PRC had a transition to a new govt. It's all gone smoothly afaik. I'm glad Wang Huning is still around & am waiting to see who the new FM is since foreign relations is more my thing. The only surprise that I've noticed is Li Qiang getting #2 in the politburo standing committee.
> what i get is that Xi isnt that well liked for turning on his predecessors?
I dunno where you get this information. I'm guessing western press. I don't take that stuff srsly, it's just misinformation & spin.
> are you rooting for this one man dictatorship show or more for the old system?
the system hasn't changed but there has been a reduction in factionalism/power struggles within the party & it's true that Xi has consolidated his central position... he has a steady hand & I support pretty much all the major policies that have been rolled out while he's been prez so I don't have a problem with it. This is a much different time to to the Jiang/Hu era & there's little room for fuckups.

>Xi - imho i think he really is trying to manifest his power at the expense of destroying the party system and its rules.
What is your take on Gong Zheng getting in the inner circle of Xi?

I dunno what you mean by in the inner circle. He's not on the politburo standing committee & is just a #2 guy in Shanghai. Am I missing something?
Inner CPC workings/dramas aren't really my thing btw. I'm tryna learn a little about it but only as it relates to stuff I'm curious about.
