started well then got off-topic and nah there aren't just lots of studies that show that lockdowns work, most of the studies show that they do, as well as the countries that have had lockdowns reaching covid-free status while countries that haven't have ongoing problems.

My criticism to lockdown effectiveness would be that the virus is struggling to spread, so it creates an environment encouraging evolution.
It works if you get the nation to zero cases before reopening. And staying 100% sealed from the outside world until global cases are zero.

viruses don't struggle, and that's not how they mutate either. mass reproduction is required for mutation.
both australia and new zealand have been effective with their lockdowns, using the rule of quarantining returning travellers from abroad.

I'm saying that the generational gap in mutations will be reduced if you deprive them.
Under pressure everything gets better or dies.
We are entering our third lockdown because our government was too stupid to stay shut the first time.
