One would think not. I think that the point is that the African slave trade is too often presented from an American-centric point of view. The problem spanned far and wide geographically and certainly predates and continued long after the period most of us are familiar with. I found the comment that centuries of being preyed upon in this manner may constitute a 'racial-memory' for Africa that may persist to this day particularly poignant. (time-stamped here)
