The best adjective he could muster for this idea was "interesting".
"Hey, let's come up with a really stupid way to immediately change Star Trek into Harry Potter/BSG for no fucking reason whatsoever. Sound good? Let's get to work!"

Some asshole wrote this in the YouTube comments:
I should not be able to accurately predict how the story will unfold due to obvious and simplistic plot devices and character setups this early in a series. When you add the Harry Potter drive and everything it entails, the show suddenly goes from mediocre with promise to mediocre with batshit crazy stupid. Thank you CBS.

i was waiting to see how the writers would explain this farfetched idea. it's not necessarily bad, but then when they hooked up the monster to the navigation or whatever, it started to sound more stupid than strange.

i got the same feeling while watching. a tardigrade... hmm sounds like they read about them surviving in space in the news a couple years ago and completely misunderstood... and then shortly later it's abvious that's exactly what happened.
the spore drive was a good idea, there was no reason at all to invoke a magical creature that controlled it all "somehow".

Exactly right. The moment the macro tartigrade (which makes no sense at all), complete with scanned internal organs like a heart and lungs, appeared I knew the following:
1. The tartigrade is a component of the spore drive.
2. Micheal will figure this out.
3. It will be come an animal rights issue (ooh, edgy - issues, see issues....FFS)
And I predict the season will continue as such for me. Disappointing. I like surprises, unforseen character developments, mystery, intrigue, a battleship stand-off every once in a while and some kind of suspenseful overarching story arc. You know I just reminded myself how great Babylon 5 was.

Uninteresting series was just made more uninteresting, yay!
