These kind of sensors and data recording I believe are thought about being implemented for new drivers in the UK.
In theory they are a good idea to improve road safety, however, only in conjunction with several on board cameras the data can really be made sense of. In the EU they want to implement data recorders that save data from a few minutes before an accident but otherwise erase themselves automatically.
Also this does NOTHING for road safety if the driver doesn't know about it.
