For the record, western propaganda had been pushing a hoax, saying Russia would invade on the 16th Feb - in the middle of the Winter Olympics in Beijing. After the 16th that propaganda was officially a hoax. What was the date I called it that?

In my opinion, it was an accident. The high levels of water on a dam in disrepair could easily explain the collapse. It benefits Ukraine so much that it makes it hard to believe Russia would do this to itself. At the same time, i think Ukraine was ready to cross the river and start an offensive there, which is now at risk of failure. It weakens Crimea and softens it for retaking but also puts Ukraine lives in danger..... and then putting the largest nuclear station in Europe at risk would be stupid for both sides.

I fear unaffiliated terrorists who want Europe to burn down to a crisp! Either way, this area is observed with cams and satellites.... an answer will come in time. It could be something as simple as pressure overload and mismanagement!

They can in any number of ways... built in the 50's. like so many others. A breach under the dam can happen for one.... you can't just build a dam without any maintenance, it's a constant job!. It's a part of the curriculum in school over here.....nation of dams just no van dams!
You approach it bit by bit by eliminating causes rather than what is done here.... imposing. So first, was it structural collapse? Structual collapse due to shelling. Mismanagement.... or a catastrophic work accident.
Rule those out we come into murky territory and here we are given several scenarios all deliberate and facilitated by one faction. I have difficulty in thinking either Russia or Ukraine would do this, then again.... nothing makes sense in this war!

This is clearly Ukraine dishing out punishment to the eastern Ukraine for not being loyal to the West and with their counter offensive having little impact they need something dramatic to keep the western partners interested is sponsoring further war.
Zelesky was told by the US state dept that support was drying up and he needs significant victories in the counter offensive or it would be all over. He has been employing a scorched earth tactic as he looses the cities with a reported (by survivors) 90% or more share of the destruction of civilian targets. And now in desperation he is attacking villages of little to no strategic value as they might appear as a propiganda win for the counter offensive.
The only way Russia will lose this war is if NATO commits fully and sends their troops in, and that is WW3 baby!
You guys keep cheering on the madness. I think I will be fine down here in the Southern hemisphere if I stock up on iodine pills and food.
