However, the other traffickers who were with Fuentes told on him, setting up his death. Fuentes was invited to a cartel meeting in an unknown location and kidnapped July 17. He was placed in the single-engine raft that same day before he was tossed in to the Caribbean Sea"

As far as I can tell from that video he probably faked his own death too.

If they wanted to make a statement, the camera work would have to be better, if he wanted to fake his death the people he "cheated" would know very well that they didn't do it and keep going after him.
I find it a little doubtful that the cartel wouldn't enjoy giving him at the least a good old beating before drowning him too, he seemed pretty intact and way too little concerned.....

fucking amateur video. isis is the gold standard.
however, if you want to get rid of a body (alive or dead) 2 or 3km out to sea with a decent weight attached is the way to go. you could see him go down too.
