Once a year Elephant Seals find a place on land to shed some hair and the outer layers of their skin. In 2018 three Elephant Seals chose Gonzales Beach, on the waterfront of Victoria, on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. Two female Elephant Seals used the beach earlier in April and May. The one on the Beach in June is likely a young male, going by the time of year they usually molt. There's a map showing where Gonzales Beach is at the end of the video. Volunteers maintain a barrier around where the seal usually camps out, to warn people to not get too close and to control their dogs in that area. I used a good zoom lens so I didn't have to get too close to get good images of the seal. The video was filmed on June 19, 2018.
