This show was cancelled by SyFy last week, but Amazon has just announced that they will pick it up for Season 4 as a Prime original.
I'm not normally into sci-fi tv series, but I've been totally hooked on this show. They pay very close attention to the science of space flight, and there is some really cool intrigue going on in world where Earth and Mars are in a new cold war alongside some shadowy interests. Seasons 2 and 3 are rated 90+ on rotten tomatoes.

Obviously this was not reflected in the popularity otherwise they would not have cancelled it. Maybe syfy channel is too nerdy for the general viewers?

the problem was that SyFy only had the rights to the initial airing on cable in the US, and not to any streaming or bluray sales. The show is very popular outside the US where it is available on Netflix, but probably less so amongst the US demographic that still mainly watches cable.

Awesome! Now bring back Dark Matter.

Did they fucking cancel Dark Matter? Shit, I was looking forward to the next season.

yes, similar reasons for cancelling expanse. they didn't own the rights so they decided to cancel, even though the ratings were OK. sadly, no one picked up the show, and the set pieces and props have already been liquidated. i don't think it's coming back, unless it's like a TV movie to wrap up loose ends. i doubt it will happen, looked like there were too many loose end for 1 TV movie to address.

is the full series going to be available on amazon prime? I've never seen the show.

It's only season 1 and 2 so far on Amazon Prime. Seen friends watching it and it looks legit, Battlestar-esque almost.
