Huge fire engulfs skyscraper in China

No word yet on the number of casualiies. The cause was apparently (yet again) a russian soldier carelessly disposing of a cigarrette + flawless safety features fail

Fire out, no casualities found yet. https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/16/china/changsha-skyscraper-fire-intl-scli/index.html

Buildings shouldn't be able to burn like this. Assuming they were built to code. :)

Yeah thought the same thing.  I remember seeing Tower 7 go down with like.. 2 rooms on fire lol.  Maybe our fires in America are just stronger than those weak asian fires.

One would think that in the developed world this would not happen but unfortunately it did:

it was built in the 1990s, their building code didn't outlaw that type of cladding until 2000

it's weird it looks like the exterior is burning rather than flames coming from out of windows. thought maybe bamboo rebar but the smoke is too black. maybe more likely some sort of plastic-based outer cladding?
