Horse vs girl protestor

This always looked odd to me, hence I am still trying to figure that one out. This is the raw video of the horse incident, a "narrated" version was submitted last week.

I would like everyone to have a look at it from the rider's perspective:  I think there is a good chance he did not see the girl stepping in front of the horse rather than running her over deliberately. Are there any horseback riders on here?
