I wish we would stop using the term "genocide" and start using the term "mass societal homicide". Genocide restricts the definition to an issue of race - we've got more sophisticated forms of hate today that will lead to the same outcome only this time (and this isn't new either) it looks like it will be millions unjustly confined, marginalized, separated and then, yes this is how these things progress, eventually murdered for their thoughts and beliefs. That's the real danger right now.
We experience events in history and they define how we talk about reality, but our present reality is always novel and therefore the language derived from past trauma can leave us ill-equipped to recognize the dangers of today. People ask what would you have done if you were in Germany in the 1930s - you would have done whatever it is you are doing today. You are not in the same place, but in a place that rhymes with the stories of the past. How do we stop this from happening - recognize when it's happening and then ACT on that recognition.

Got my daughter a philosophy book that I read to her at night, couple weeks or so ago i was telling her about being an individual, a trend setter and not a trend follower, how people agree with others to fit in, people yearn to be part of a group, but she doesnt have to, she would be respected if she said "no" and was herself. I just take the CCP at their word. You keep knowingly making the error of referring to the Chinese when you mean the Communist Party of China. The Chinese are wonderful - Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Dissidents in China longing for freedom and keeping their heads down (I'm not going to call them cowards).
